Historic Thayers Inn Transfers Ownership
Thayers Inn was established in 1843 and first opened for lodging in 1850, predating the Mount Washington Hotel by more than 50 years. The hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places and has hosted many dignitaries such as President Ulysses S. Grant, President Nixon, P.T. Barnum, and Tom Thumb. Thayers Inn has been a favorite stumping ground for presidential hopefuls such as Senator Robert Dole, Bill Bradley, Patrick Buchanan and many more. The hotel was built by Henry L. "Daddy" Thayer with a dream to build a hotel more modern in equipment and character than others of its kind. "Thayers White Mountain Hotel" opened in January 1850 and soon experienced success as the railroads came to Littleton in 1852. Today the inn offers modern amenities such as wireless internet access but the historic charm and character remains. The inn offers 35 rooms and suites including historic rooms, family suites, and extended stay suites. Thayers Inn is located in the heart of downtown Littleton, NH, one of the "Ten Best Small Towns in America" and "2003 Great American Main Street Community" award winner. Littleton Main Street is vibrant- offering shopping, restaurants, and entertainment, as well as 22 historic sites within walking distance of Thayers. For more history on Thayers Inn visit www.thayersinn.com. Jere Eames stated, "The Eames family feels confident that this sale meets our goal of putting Thayers into good hands in order to ensure future success for this historic and magnificent property." Tom Carpi's decision to purchase Thayers Inn was driven by the strong economic climate of the Littleton area as well as the location that appeals to business travelers, families, and couples. Mr. Carpi also owns the Center Harbor Inn located on the water in Center Harbor, NH and was quoted "Thayers Inn is a perfect compliment to our lake property. Guests who visit us at the lake can now come and experience a vacation in the mountains and enjoy the historic character of Littleton. Last year we purchased the Butson's Market Place property in Littleton as an investment and we continue to be impressed with the economic activity and charm of Littleton."
